So is it fair to expect todays reels to last as long as the older ones, most of you would say yes, they should, but i would ask you to consider the true cost of the reels, i think abu reels are cheap and if they last a couple of years you have had a bargain if you want a reel to last a life time you should consider spending £400.00 for it
Something to think about before you buy your next new reelĪn ABU 6000 cost around £12.00 in 1960, same reel now around £100.00, so the 1960 reel sounds cheap and as we all know a lot of the old ABU reels are still in use today, so we expect abu reels to last us for years but they are not up to the same standard as the old ones.
